Enjoy the icon of Utah and the vastness of the galaxy without the crowds

An Arches National Park Tour like no other

While the park’s breathtaking beauty is undeniable by day, it’s after the sun sets that its true enchantment reveals itself. With our guides you’ll unlock the secrets to capturing the beauty of the night sky, transforming these moments into timeless memories. Whether you’re an aspiring photographer with a DSLR or an Insta-holic with an iPhone, you’ll leave Moab knowing the basic techniques to capture the stars next time your in the dark.

See What Everyone’s Saying

Important:

Arches National Park is one of Utah’s most popular destinations and this is one of the only night activities in the park so these tours can sell out quickly. To secure your preferred date and avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend booking as soon as possible.

Meeting

We’ll begin the night meeting at the trailhead sign where our guides will hang red LEDs and stage tripods so we’re easy to spot. Once everyone has arrived we’ll do introductions and set the mood for the night. Before we head out we’ll hand out headlamps as well as tripods and go over basic night hiking safety.

Hiking to Delicate Arch (1.5 miles)

After that we’ll start hiking to this amazing rock icon. We’ll take breaks on the way to stargaze and drink water, typically creating 3 sections. During those stops our guides will point to any constellations and tell the corresponding stories while you get hydrated.

Photographing Hour

Once up to the Arch we’ll begin setting up our cameras, go over the basics of Astro Photography and choose shooting positions. This area is a bit dangerous at night so it’s imperative that you listen to our guides. If you’d like to get a shot of yourself in the Arch just let us know and we’ll help set it up!

Hiking Back (1.5 miles)

Sadly it’s time to head back to the parking area, but you’ll be hiking back head held high because you’ve just captured the most iconic arch in one of Utah’s darkest skies.

What if it’s cloudy?

Since these tours are specifically for Astrophotography and stargazing, we need relatively clear skies!

If the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies we will depart and hope the clouds behave. Even with partly cloudy covered skies we can still capture some great images and learn Astrophotography techniques.

If the sky is full of heavy clouds or the weather becomes dangerous, we will try to work with you and reschedule your adventure, cancel your tour, or give you an option to cancel depending on the circumstances. In the case of cancellation due to weather a 100% refund is issued.

Do I need a DSLR camera to take photos of the night sky?

While the best results happen with more advanced cameras such as DSLRs, you don’t need one to capture the night sky in Arches National Park. Modern smartphones (4 years or newer) can be a fun way to dip your toe in Astrophotography, but be careful, this hobby can become addicting!

What type of photo instruction is included?

Our guides are passionate amateur photographers and have been pursuing the hobby for many years. With the time available, this instruction is for the beginner Astrophotographer. You’ll leave with the knowledge to start pursuing these starry sky images on your own. That being said our tours are not Master Class Workshops and don’t deep dive into everything an 8 hour course or multi-day photo tour would.

Do I need a reservation to get into Arches National Park?

You do NOT need a “timed entry” reservation to Arches for our tours. Since we are arriving after the timed entry period has ended (4PM) you are free to enter at any time. You do however need your general park entry pass in order to enjoy the park. We suggest getting one of these during your trip to Moab anyway, as visiting the park during the day is a must!

Do you provide transportation?

At this time we do not provide transportation. We meet all guests at the designated trail head and depart from there. All tours are within a short 30 minute drive from Moab.

The best option if you’re arriving to Moab without a car is to rent one from Enterprise or Turo.

How difficult are the hikes?

The Windows Section & Canyonlands are the easiest tours available, suitable for most any fitness level. They have very little distance and elevation gain.

Delicate Arch is rated as a difficult trail. It has an elevation gain of around 630 ft in the distance of 1 mile, but as we hike Delicate at night, we get to avoid the heat as well as the crowds, making it a very pleasant hike to do in the summer.

What is the cancellation policy?

We try to provide a generous cancellation policy. We allow FULL refunds for any cancellations before 24 hours no questions asked. If the weather keeps us from departing on our adventure we will issue a FULL refund if we can’t reschedule.

If we decide to head out on our adventure, but for some reason the weather misbehaves and we get ZERO Astro photos, then we will issue a full refund as well.
